Share the Knowledge Section
Sanctuary Flower Costs Hi everyone! We are evaluating our sanctuary flower costs for 2010 and are interested in what other churches do. Do you have a budget for fresh flowers in the sanctuary each week? Do you have volunteers that bring them in or hire a flower company? Which flower company do you use? Approximately, what are their fees? How much do you charge people sponsoring the flowers? Anything else you'd like to share about this process would be welcome! I'd be happy to put this info in a spreadsheet and share it. Thanks, Wendy Slade Central Presbyterian Church 500 Cedar St Saint Paul, MN 55101-2245 651-224-4728 ext. 100 office@cpcstpaul.org
Check Scanners We are thinking about check scanners and would like to hear from someone with experiences to share. The main issue is to automagically capture electronic images of checks. We may, however, be also interested in transmitting them to the bank. I would be happy to share the information I receive. Thank you! Craig M. Wiester University Lutheran Church of Hope 601 13th Ave. SE Minneapolis, MN 55414-1437 (612) 331-5988 craigw@ulch.org
Privacy Policy Does your church have a policy about sharing its mailing list with affiliated organizations, such as your Diocese, denominational mission and outreach organizations, seminaries, etc.? Thanks! Christine H. Spalding Saint Paul's Cathedral (Episcopal) 2728 Sixth Avenue San Diego, CA 92103 619-298-7261 Fax 619-298-2689 spaldingc@stpaulcathedral.org
Facebook Revisited Remember this query from last week? Does your church have a Facebook page or other Facebook presence? If so, would you please share how you use it and if you find it to be effective? Do you allow “Fans” to post or do you just use it for outgoing messages? (I’ve seen some not-so-nice posts on other church’s pages by fans/friends so am apprehensive about allowing posts but that would also limit the use of this communication tool.) Thank you! Julie Ericson Chapel Hill Church 4888 Pilot Knob Road Eagan, MN 55122 651-681-1658, ext. 100 jericson@chapelhillchurch.com Thank you for all your responses. Rental Space Available Do you know of non-profit organizations looking for ideal rental space? In these difficult economic times, reasonably priced space designed to accommodate non-profits is scarce but Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church in Bloomington has a community house with a total of 2914 square feet of available space. The building is nicely divided into distinct business areas. The larger area (2210 SQ FT) includes a large kitchen and meeting room with 6 private offices. A smaller area, about 700 SQ FT, has 4 private offices and a separate outside entrance/exit. There is ample parking available and great access to Highway 35W. Two non-profits already find parts of this space perfect for their business needs and, although the space is appropriately divided for privacy, the existing tenants look forward to welcoming new organizations to this energetic business environment. For more information call: (952) 881-5801 Ext. 105 and talk to David Edstrom, Building Manager.
