Audits
How many churches perform audits? Is yours internal or external? Also if your church is giving staff increases, what’s the percentage?

Facebook
Does your church have a Facebook page or other Facebook presence? If so, would you please share how you use it and if you find it to be effective? Do you allow “Fans” to post or do you just use it for outgoing messages? (I’ve seen some not-so-nice posts on other church’s pages by fans/friends so am apprehensive about allowing posts but that would also limit the use of this communication tool.) Thank you!

Assistance for Medical Bills
I am wondering if churches have ever hosted a fundraiser to pay for someone’s medical bills. I am looking for any policies they may have written for such an event.

Payroll Service Recommendations Needed
We are considering changing from a national to a local payroll provider. If you’ve worked with a local company and have advice or referrals (good, bad or otherwise), I’d love to hear it.

Winter Parking Lot & Sidewalk Maintenance Seminar – Free!
The Mississippi Watershed Management Organization is offering a FREE workshop on Winter Parking Lot & Sidewalk Maintenance for staff maintaining private/public walkways and parking lots, snow removal contractors, landscapers, property managers, city staff, and snowplow drivers.
Wednesday, December 9, 2009, 10:00am - 2:30pm
Saint Anthony City Hall
3301 Silver Lake Road
Saint Anthony, MN 55418
Learn how to keep our parking lots and sidewalks safe while saving money and protecting our lakes and rivers. Many local lakes and streams have elevated levels of chloride, a common ingredient in road salt. In some cases, the chloride contamination is high enough to impact or even kill fish and other aquatic life. Winter snow and ice practices have been identified as the primary source of this chloride. This workshop will present information on how you can mitigate the effects of de-icing materials on the environment, without compromising safety or effectiveness.
The topics covered will include:
•        cost/benefits of de-icing strategies
•        different types of de-icing materials
•        the latest recommendations for application rates
•        "Winter Parking Lot and Sidewalk Maintenance Manual"
Workshop participants will receive a copy of the "Winter Parking Lot and Sidewalk Maintenance Manual," a clipboard with an application rate chart, and a complementary lunch.
Participants will also have the option of receiving Level One Certification in Snow & Ice Control Best Practices from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. Certified practitioners are listed on the agency's website, http://www.pca.state.mn.us/programs/roadsalt.html. This can be a great marketing tool!
This workshop is free (and lunch is included!), but registration is required by December 1st. Priority will be given to individuals/companies that are located within the watershed boundaries. A flyer explaining all this is available at www.nacbancc.org/images/WinterAnnouncement.pdf. To register, complete the last page of the brochure at www.nacbancc.org/images/WinterBrochure.pdf and mail or fax it to:

Bath Towels Needed!
Dear Congregation friends: I’m sending this out to lots and lots of people, with a request that you place this notice in your congregation’s newsletter, bulletin, website, etc.

Families Moving Forward needs bath towels! Do you have any extra around? They can be new, but also can be gently used. Each person who comes to live in the Families Moving Forward emergency shelter gets a bath towel, and gets to keep it when they move out. They use up a lot of towels – and need some more. If you can bring any towels to _________, we will see that they get to FMF. Thanks!

There is no deadline on this, except that we’re down to our last two bath towels – so this notice can run as soon as you can fit it in, and can run for as many weeks as you are able – there are NEVER too many bath towels. Thanks!
